Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history. Black History Month at UW-Green Bay is coordinated by campus stakeholders who plan a variety of programs throughout February in order to recognize and celebrate the history, culture and contributions of people of African descent in the United States.

Fredrick Douglass' Day
Join us in the transcribing of Frederick Douglass Papers: General Correspondence, 1841 – 1912. Students will get to read the words of Douglass and others who fought against slavery, participated in the Civil War, and argued for human rights – including Black equality, political participation, and women’s rights (among many other things!).

Join us in the ultimate social gathering where the Union is filled with events to partake in where everything is Free.
Paint & Congregate 
Starting at 8 PM during GB Nites, pick your own paint kit (while supplies last) to complete a paint-by-number canvas of a historical figure. Options include Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, Michelle Obama, Coretta Scott King, Ketanji Brown Jackson, Shirley Chisolm, Maya Angelo, and Langston Hughes.

Join us in a discussion of the book: How We Fight For Our Lives – A Memoir by: Saeed Jones. This is an award-winning book is on the intersectional topics of lived experiences as both an LGBTQIA2S+ and POC.
