Gaining altitude in Hawaii
Dave and Patti Chevalier operate Blue Hawaiian Helicopters, the largest touring company on the Hawaiian Islands. The couple oversees the operation of 30-plus expert pilots and 180 full-time employees with bases on Maui, the Big Island and Kauai.
Their fleet of Eco-Star helicopters ($2 million apiece, but the quietest in the industry) delivers about 30,000 tours per year, and Dave works tirelessly to make sure his industry works to respect the environmentally sensitive nature of the Islands. Blue Hawaiian is the service of choice for National Geographic magazine and Hollywood filmmakers (Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean).
UW-Green Bay influence: Says Dave, “There is little doubt that our environmental focus and philosophy grew from our experience at UW-Green Bay. It’s part of everything we do.”
