King’s vision drives TaylorMade

The chief executive of the nation’s largest golf equipment maker, Mark King does business with the world’s elite pros and rubs elbows with big names in the worlds of entertainment, politics and commerce.

Sergio Garcia is a frequent houseguest. Business personality Donald Trump is a fan. Friend John Daly agreed to play Santa at his company’s Christmas party. King has been profiled in PGA Magazine, Fortune and the Harvard Business Review.

King’s celebrity status within the industry derives from making TaylorMade the No. 1 brand on the PGA tour and boosting sales from $300 million to $1 billion annually. He was named golf executive of the year within two years of being named president in 1999, at age 40.

On UW-Green Bay: “I had some of the greatest years of my life there. Even today, of the things I’ve done in the 25 years since, graduating from college was one of the most significant achievements I’ve ever had.”
