Music grad finds jazzy position with Google
Google recognized something special in Randy Knaflic. The music major, who started his own successful recruiting company in New York and kept it afloat during the tech bust, became the company's first lead recruiter in Europe.
He now works out of the Zürich, Switzerland office, and is the staffing manager for Google Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He is responsible for all engineering and product management hiring across 13 sites in 10 different countries. And yes, he has all the typical Google employee perks — free meals, swimming spa and free doctors onsite, free laundry, onsite massage therapy, office pets, etc., — that earned the company the designation of "Best Company to Work for in 2007" from Fortune magazine.
“The free perks are great,” Knaflic says, “but the biggest draw is definitely the day-to-day challenges, and an incredible environment. This place is filled with some of the brightest people in the industry.”
