Santaga converts an opportunity
Greg Santaga had a Phoenix Hall of Fame career as a striker for the men’s soccer team. Years later — after successful positions with Fort Howard Co., Bellows International, Scott Paper and Kimberly-Clark — he made a decision to strike out on his own.
He purchased equipment from Tufco Technologies and founded Green Bay Converting in 1999, adding the Hattiesburg operation in 2005. Starting with about 20 employees and eight pieces of machinery, he now employs more than 700 people and owns about 85 pieces of equipment and machinery. “From a business standpoint, we realized this community has so much to offer,” Santaga says.
UW-Green Bay teachers: “We really knew they cared about our education.” Bob Obenberger and John Farah of the business faculty were among his favorites.
