UW System has negotiated a volume licensing agreement with Microsoft for the University. This agreement provides two options for employees to run Microsoft applications on their home systems.
Microsoft Software Purchasing & Home Use Information
It is important to note that no discounted operating system upgrades (Windows XP or Vista) are available for home systems through this home use agreement.
Adobe (including former Macromedia) and FileMaker Products
Faculty and staff may use Adobe and FileMaker products on a computer personally owned or leased (such as a home computer or a laptop) if using the products on a computer at work. Home use of these products are to be for work related purposes only. The software may not be used on the home computer at the same time the software on the primary computer is being used.
For Adobe and Filemaker products, your program assistant can purchase the software for your use at home through the Wisconsin Integrated Software Catalog (WISC) site at http://wiscsoftware.wisc.edu/wisc/. Faculty and staff should make a request through their department chair or director.
SAS (Statistical Analysis System) for Home Use
The SAS (Statistical Analysis System) suite of programs is available to faculty, staff, and students for home use on Windows computers. The modules included in the SAS program are Base SAS, SAS/AF, SAS/ACCESS, SAS/ASSIST, SAS/CALC, SAS/CONNECT, SAS/EIS, SAS/ETC, SAS/FSP, SAS/GIS, SAS/GRAPH, SAS/IML, SAS/INSIGHT, SAS/LAB, SAS/OR, SAS/QC, SAS/SHARE, SAS/SPECTRAVIEW, SAS/STAT, and SAS/ OnlineTutor.
SAS for Windows (9 CD set) may be purchased in the Phoenix Bookstore for $33.99. You will be asked to present your UW-Green Bay identification and sign a statement of agreement regarding the use of SAS. Included in the package you receive are installation instructions. Since our SAS license is renewed on an annual basis, you will have to apply a SETINIT to your software each summer to continue using SAS. CIT will maintain a list of individuals who have purchased SAS and will email the SETINIT files to them each summer with instructions.
SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) for Home Use
SPSS v17 is available to faculty, staff, and students for home use on Windows or Macintosh computers. For Windows SPSS, all nine modules run on campus can be used at home by faculty and staff (Base, Advanced, Categories, Conjoint, Exact Tests, Missing Value Analysis, Regression, Tables, and Trends). Only the four primary modules (Base, Advanced, Regression, and Tables) are available to students for home use.
SPSS for Windows may be purchased in the Phoenix Bookstore for $10.99. You will be asked to present your UW-Green Bay identification. Installation instructions are included on the CD and a license code is provided. Since our SPSS license is renewed on an annual basis, you will have to apply a new license code to your software each January to continue using SPSS at home.
Due to limited demand, SPSS for Macintosh has not been made available through the Phoenix Bookstore at this time. Please contact the CIT help desk at 465-2309 if you wish to use SPSS for Macintosh at home or have it installed on your campus Mac. The Macintosh modules include Base, Advanced, Regression, Tables, Trends, and Categories.
Maple Mathematics Software for Home Use
Our Maple license agreement provides for home use rights for faculty and staff. Upon presenting your campus ID, you can purchase the media for $9.99 through the Phoenix Bookstore. Students may also purchase and download Maple for $65 through the Maplesoft web site.
Maple 13 is a productivity tool for solving mathematical problems and creating interactive technical documents -- it is considered the most powerful and easiest-to-use mathematical tool on the market.
