Instruction for High Schools

Have Fun While Learning @ your Library

The Cofrin Library offers the "Introduction to Research in a University Library" to junior and senior classes from area high schools. The library staff welcomes the opportunity to give demonstrations of traditional and electronic information sources and assist students in preparing for success in an information based world. Visits should be scheduled for the purpose of completing a specific class assignment (preapproved by the library instruction staff.) To guarantee a positive learning experience for your students we request that groups be no larger than 25. Please make arrangements no less than two weeks in advance of when you would like to visit. (The library staff reserves the right to limit the length of the visit during peak academic periods.)

For high school classes that are in the College Credit in High School program please refer to the Library Instruction Policy.

Before visiting the library:

  • We request that the classroom teacher(s) provide an outline/assignment topics so that we can incorporate these into the learning experience.
  • Review the materials sent to you or your high school contact. These items will contain important information about the library.
  • We recommend that you have students explore the library web page before your visit. This will familiarize them with the way we organize electronic information.
  • When scheduling your library visit please indicate if you are planning on borrowing materials.
