How can UW-Green Bay help me use Google Scholar for research?

Google Scholar can be a useful tool in your research. Please keep in mind that Google Scholar is not a comprehensive database of materials. Publisher cooperation is a big factor in determining whether or not an article is included. Depending on your topic, the best information on your topic may not necessarily be included here.

Links to "Find it @ UW-Green Bay" now show up in Google Scholar search results, directing UWGB users from citations in Google Scholar to full-text available from the Cofrin Library, as well as to other library services.

For citations for which Google is aware that the Cofrin Library has a subscription entitling UWGB users to full text, you will see a "Find it @ UW-Green Bay" link prominently displayed beside the citation in Google Scholar.

Example:

Sometimes the Find It button will be below the search result instead of right next to the search result title.

Example:

Once you click on the "Find It @ UW-Green Bay" button, sometimes our system will find that we do not carry that title. In that case, you will see a message on the "Find It!" page that instructs you to "order this from another library via - ILLiad". Otherwise, you will find a link on the "Find It!" page that will lead you to your desired article.

If you are coming to Google Scholar from within the UWGB network (anywhere on campus, or if you have already signed in through the Cofrin Library's proxy server), these links will automatically show up in Google Scholar search results.

Using Google Scholar from Off-campus

If you are NOT coming from within the UWGB network, you can still configure your Google Scholar Perferences to display "Find It @ UW-Green Bay" links:

1)Go to Google Scholar.

2)Click on the Scholar Preferences link.

3)In the search box for Institutional Access, search for "UW-Green Bay." Tick the check-box beside "UW-Green Bay." and then click "Save Preferences."

Perform a search in Google Scholar. "Find It @ UW-Green Bay" links will show up in your search results. Click on one of these links, and you will be taken to the "Find It @ UW-Green Bay" menu, which will provide you with options for accessing the item you are looking for.
