    Higher Education Incentives Program
    Announcement of Opportunity 2008-2009

    Purpose:
The Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium invites proposals for value-added, higher education teaching/training projects related to any space or aerospace discipline. This is a seed-grant program for undergraduate education projects which support the most innovative ideas on how to increase the space and aerospace content of undergraduate university and college offerings.

Awards: Grants up to $8,000* are available.

*Based on availability of funds.  WSGC will not fund overhead; however, it may be counted as institutional match. Proposals for two-year projects will be considered. Proposals for two-year projects should include budgets and objectives for each year.

    Requirements:
All WSGC affiliate member universities or colleges are eligible. Industry, nonprofit associations, and nonmembers can propose programs and work jointly with one of our academic members, providing the educational activity occurs at a member campus (e.g., visiting lectureship, an extension course, nonprofit group offering). A 1:1 match is required.

Any higher education project intended for education and/or training of undergraduate students, with an emphasis on faculty enhancement and curriculum development in undergraduate education is eligible.

Programs should have an emphasis on space sciences, aerospace engineering, or any other space-related discipline or interdisciplinary field.

Preference will be given to proposals with NASA Exploration System Mission Directorate (ESMD) Systems Engineering emphasis.

    Applications:
    Maximum two-page proposal should include:

    1. Title of Project
    2. Purpose - include audience, educational objectives
    3. Method - what activity(ies) will be included
    4. Results - anticipated value-added benefits
    5. Evaluation Plan - A brief self-evaluation plan and how the program will be continued after WSGC funds are no longer available
    6. Budget - include how you will use the requested amount, and amount contributed by your institution (personnel, expenses, overhead, etc.; sorry, no funding for computers or other capital equipment. Also, these awards do not include institutional overhead, as required by the NASA grant to WSGC. Your institutional overhead costs may be included in your budget as part of the matching contribution from your institution.)
    7. Match - a 1:1 match is required
    8. Personnel - include brief qualifications
    9. Schedule - time line including project period and important milestones/deadlines
    10. NASA and UW-System required data - Federal ID number, institution's fiscal officer, project director, mailing address, telephone, fax, e-mail
