NASA Academy
Announcement of Opportunity Summer 2008

NASA Academy is an internship program for college juniors, seniors, and graduate students co-sponsored by participating NASA Centers and state Space Grant Consortia. Participating NASA Centers for 2008 are: Ames Research Center (astrobiology), Goddard Space Flight Center (earth science, space science, technology), Glenn Research Center (power, propulsion, communication, and microgravity science), and Marshall Space Flight Center (transportation and propulsion technologies). Each center has its own focus areas.

The NASA Academy is made up of competitively selected students from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. These students work on research projects under the direction of some of the most innovative scientists and engineers working for NASA. Students' interests and skills are matched to project requirements, as identified by the student and the researcher. Students also participate in seminars and discussions with government and business leaders on space-related topics. Students who meet the following eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply. WSGC encourages applications from minority groups, women, and the disabled.

Student eligibility:

• Classified as a junior, senior or first year graduate student as of June 1, 2008 or as posted on the NASA Academy Website.
• Grade point average: B or better
• U.S. citizen

Deadline for Completed Application: January 15, 2008.

All application packets should be submitted online as listed on the NASA website. The Wisconsin Space Grant will review applications and forward them to the NASA Center(s) of your choice. Final selection is made by a NASA panel of high-ranking scientists and engineers, complemented by distinguished university faculty members and a select group of aerospace experts. Funding up to $4,000 (pending availability of funds) will be provided by WSGC for the students chosen from Wisconsin and approved by the WSGC. Housing and local transportation are paid for by NASA.
