Welcome to Mary Ann Cofrin (MAC) Hall!
The three-level structure of brick, glass, and steel, 120,000 gross sq. ft., was completed in fall 2001 at a cost of $20 million, with $17 million in state funding and the remainder from private donors.
Points of Interest:
• Winter Garden Atrium: A vision glass installation on
one wall creates electricity from daylight, while allowing
enough light to create a pleasant, comfortable environment for students
to relax.
• Lenfestey
Family Courtyard: Features a rainwater catchment
and irrigation system to support
native plantings.
• Photovoltaic Metal Roof: Light harnessed by this roof
generates around 15,000 kilowatt hours of electricity
annually.
• Solar Wall: This wall uses direct sunlight to preheat
ventilation air.
The learning-friendly layout symbolizes UW-Green Bay's
commitment to excellence in education. Students enjoy
comfortable classrooms, advanced learning technology,
and an open, airy design which makes ample
use of windows, clerestory walls and open areas to encourage
"looking in on learning". Each classroom is designed
around it's presentation space. Technology includes the
latest in multiple display
projections systems
for data and video. Also located here is the University's
Center for History and Social Change, which organizes lectures, seminars, and other events on campus, conducted by visiting historical scholars in the humanities and social sciences.
