Admission
The Application Process
Although the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has strong admission requirements, it is guided by a philosophy of "personalized admission." This means applicants are evaluated on an individual basis and consideration can be given for experiences such as high school, special circumstances, and other issues.
Applications for the Interdisciplinary Studies Adult Degree Program are accepted continuously throughout all months of the year. Candidates who are admitted to the program are invited to a personal enrollment session during which they meet with their advisor and register for courses.
If No College Experience...
To qualify for admission to UW-Green Bay, an applicant must be a graduate of a recognized high school or its equivalent. Students who hold General Educational Development (GED) diplomas must have an official score report for the GED and a partial transcript from any regular high school they attended. This should be sent directly to the UW-Green Bay Office of Admissions from the appropriate agencies or schools.
If Some College Experience...
Students who have had some prior college experience are considered transfer students. A transfer student must request that official transcripts be sent directly to UW-Green Bay from all schools attended since high school graduation, including nursing schools, business schools, vocational and technical schools, other colleges and universities. These records must be submitted whether or not the work was completed and whether or not credit is claimed for the courses. The only exception is for training schools attended as part of military service.
UW-Green Bay is flexible regarding the transfer of credit from other accredited colleges and universities. The accreditation status of the previous institution(s) and grades are determining factors for course and credit transferability. An official evaluation of transfer credits is done only after you have been admitted as a student.
To see how courses taken at other University of Wisconsin institutions transfer to UW-Green Bay, check the UW Transfer Information System.
