Financial Assistance
If
you are interested in enrolling as an Interdisciplinary Studies student, you
are encouraged to speak with an advisor about opportunities for financial
aid, scholarships, veteran's educational assistance, or tax credits to help
defray direct educational expenses.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available to Interdisciplinary Studies students who have financial need. By completing the necessary applications, students are automatically considered for scholarships, grants, or loans for which they may qualify. The Financial Aid Office (920-465-2075) can provide detailed information about general aid programs and scholarships.
UW-Green Bay offers several state and UW-System programs that are targeted for minority students. Contact an advisor in the Financial Aid Office (920-465-2075) for specific program information.
Students should apply for financial aid as early as possible prior to their semester of enrollment. To apply for financial aid, a student must:
- Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA
form can be completed online at http://fafsa.ed.gov.
The University of Wisconsin federal college code is 003899.
- Complete and submit all requests for additional or clarifying information.
The priority date for applying for financial aid is April 15. The priority date is not a deadline; it is a date by which a student may reasonably expect to be considered for the maximum amount of financial aid available. The submission of a FAFSA is the only application needed to be considered for all federal and state grant programs, and federal loan programs. The FAFSA may be submitted before a student is admitted to the University. The student will receive a financial aid award after the admission process is complete.
Scholarships
In addition to general scholarship information available through the Financial Aid Office, privately-funded scholarships are available specifically for Interdisciplinary Studies students who exhibit the maturity, ability, and desire to meet the challenges inherent in our academic program. Veteran's Educational Assistance
The primary source of information for programs administered by the Veterans Administration or the Wisconsin Department of Veterans' Affairs is the veterans' service officer of the county from which the veteran departed for service, or where (s)he now claims residence. The veteran may also seek assistance from the veterans' officer on campus.
The Office of the Registrar at UW-Green Bay has posted a webpage containing information on Veteran's Benefits.
Tax Credits
Federal tax policy allows some students with tax liabilities to receive an annual credit for college expenses. See your tax advisor for details.
