UW-Green Bay Courses Available at Nicolet College

Earning your University of Wisconsin bachelor’s degree just got easier with UW-Green Bay courses now available at Nicolet College. By offering these classes in Rhinelander, UW-Green Bay has made the path from the Northwoods down to Green Bay – and from the associate degree to the bachelor’s degree – one that is easier and more convenient for adult students. This on-site course delivery, combined with on-line courses and, in some cases, occasional trips to Green Bay for students, will enable more Northwoods residents to earn a UW bachelor’s degree.

A Free Information Session will be offered at Nicolet College on Wednesday, July 16 at 6:00 p.m. Call 800.621.2313 or register online.

Two GREAT Degrees for Working Adults

UW-Green Bay’s Adult Degree Program and Nicolet College have partnered to provide classes that are accessible to adult students, and that lead to degrees that will help you advance professionally and achieve personal fulfillment.

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

This degree features a major in Interdisciplinary Studies and offers the flexibility necessary for advancement in a workplace that employees who know how to communicate, solve problems, think critically and adapt to a changing workplace. Designed for new college students, those with previous college credits, or those with a college-transfer associate of arts or associate of science degree from Nicolet College, the B.A. focuses on decision making, critical thinking, and interpersonal communication skills, and requires that the student identify or create their own Area of Emphasis in which to focus the degree. Students transferring in the A.A. or A.S. degree from Nicolet College will start at UW-Green Bay as a junior, and will be over half-way done toward the bachelor’s degree. However, an associate degree is not required to be eligible for UWGB’s Adult Degree B.A. program. Learn more at www.uwgb.edu/adultdegrees/ba.

Bachelor of Applied Studies (B.A.S.)

This degree is designed specifically for students with an applied associate degree from a Wisconsin Technical College. This means that any associate degree at Nicolet College or other Wisconsin Technical College (other than the University Transfer Program degrees) will transfer to UW-Green Bay as a 60 credit block. Students start the B.A.S. degree as a junior and pursue the Interdisciplinary Studies major by completing UW-Green Bay’s General Education requirements and the Area of Emphasis. Learn more at www.uwgb.edu/adultdegrees/bas.

Other Degree/Certification Opportunities

In addition to these two degrees available to the Northwoods, there are other options available for adult learners, but require more frequent access to the UW-Green Bay campus. Adult students can now earn a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, taking General Education and Supporting Coursework on Saturdays and on the Internet, with most of the major classes offered in the evening, one night per week. Also, professionals that already have an earned bachelor’s degree but want to obtain their certification to teach elementary school in Wisconsin can do so in an adult-friendly format.

Benefits for Employers, Local Business, and the Community

Greater opportunities for higher education in the local community translates into a more educated, knowledgeable, and effective workforce. This effort will allow employers to hire local talent and to promote internal candidates, reducing the cost for personnel searches and retraining, while improving employee morale and community support.

UW-Green Bay an Excellent Fit for Commuters

These degree options were designed specifically for the adult learner and are ideal for students traveling from beyond the Green Bay area. With classes offered at various times and with multiple methods of delivery, earning your bachelor’s degree has never been more convenient. UWGB Adult Degree Program classes are offered:

  • Saturday mornings and/or afternoons, at least one course each semester at Nicolet College
  • Fully online/web-based with no in-class requirements
  • “Hybrid”(in-class plus internet-based) courses in Green Bay
