Academic advisor
All new freshmen are assigned to an academic advisor in the Academic Advising office. Even though you will be assigned an advisor on your SIS account you may see any advisor in the advising office. This advisor can assist you in various areas with a focus on general education requirements.

It is important to meet with your academic advisor at least once a semester to be sure you are on the right track with your general education classes. Academic Advisors are always willing and able to assist you with any question you have. If we don’t have the answer we are always willing to refer you to someone who does. We all take pride in getting to know students so please don’t be afraid to stop over and chat! Once you declare a major/minor you will then be assigned to a faculty advisor(s).

What specifically can my Academic Advisor help me with?

  • Specific questions regarding your GENERAL EDUCATION classes
  • Major exploration
  • Substitutions (corrections) that you may need within your General Education requirements
  • Questions about petitions/appeals forms (late add, drop, withdraw, and suspension etc.)
  • Issues with your class schedule in regards to general education requirements
  • Assistance on using SIS (Student Information System)
  • Assist with academic issues (probation/strict probation/suspension)
