Faculty advisor

| |
Faculty advisors are professors in the subject that you are majoring and/or minoring in. They have done research and/or worked in the areas that you are majoring in. They are experts in the subjects they teach which make them a valuable resource!
It is very important for you to connect with your faculty advisor early on in your academic career. They can make wonderful references for future jobs and/or internships. If we give you contact information for a faculty advisor it is not because we don’t want to help you, it is because we feel you will be better served by a faculty advisor. Our expertise is within the general education requirements.
What specifically can my Faculty Advisor help me with?
- Specific questions regarding your MAJOR classes.
- Substitutions (corrections) that you may need within your major.
- Career questions about what you can do with your major.
- Specific questions about a particular major (You don’t have to be declared to meet with a faculty advisor when you are exploring majors).
- Course planning for your major (ex. What sequence you should take your classes in).
- Internship/independent study assistance.
