WHAT IS THE CREDIT EVALUATION PROCESS?
After you have been accepted to UW-Green Bay, an official credit evaluation will be conducted on
coursework completed at your previous institution. Each course will be evaluated to determine an
equivalency to UW-Green Bay’s courses. A copy of the evaluation will be mailed to you, indicating
course equivalencies and total number of credits accepted by UW Green Bay. You are encouraged to
meet with an academic advisor to discuss the credit evaluation and your status concerning meeting
UW-Green Bay requirements.
WHO IS MY ADVISOR?
All students are assigned an advisor. You can find out who your assigned advisor is
by logging on to your Student Information
System (SIS) account (UW Green Bay's
online registration system). You will find the name and contact information of your
advisor on the right-hand side of your Student Center page. If you have not yet declared
a major you will be assigned to an advisor in the Academic Advising Office. If you
have declared a major/minor, you will be assigned to a faculty advisor for each
program declared.
HOW DO I SELECT COURSES?
After discussing your credit evaluation with an Academic Advisor, you will have a better idea of which
courses and categories of requirements you still need to complete. Using the Student
Information System (SIS) - UW-Green Bay’s online registration system - you can search for course offerings and availability.

HOW DO I DECLARE A MAJOR?
You must complete an Official
Declaration of Degree Plan and have it signed by either the chair of the
department or faculty advisor. Return the completed form to the Office of the Registrar. Check the list
of faculty advisors for each major, to find the appropriate person to meet with.
The following majors have specific admissions requirements: Accounting,
Business Administration, Communication, Education, and Social
Work. Students must be officially accepted to the major before
filing the "Official
Declaration of Degree Plan." Please check
for with each department for admission requirements.
WHAT IF I DON’T MEET THE MINIMUM GPA REQUIREMENT FOR MY MAJOR?
You should consult with an advisor to discuss your individual circumstances. There is never a guarantee
of acceptance into competitive academic majors. You need to determine if your chances are realistic,
probable, or unlikely. And you also need to consider whether you want to invest the time it may take to
earn the necessary GPA for your desired major.
WHEN DO I REGISTER?
Generally, registration starts in late March for the fall semester, in mid November for
the spring semester, and in early January for the summer session. All students are assigned
a specific registration date. This date can be found by accessing your online
Student Information System account. You will receive your network username and password
after your admission to the University. You will find your assigned registration date on
the right-hand side of your Student Center page. ÊMake note of your first available day
and time to register for courses. Students are advised to register promptly, as
course availability decreases with time.
DO I HAVE TO TAKE PLACEMENT TESTS?
All UW-Green Bay students are required to satisfy English and Math competency requirements. The
University uses the Wisconsin Mathematics Placement Test (WMPT) and the English portion of the ACT
or verbal portion of the SAT to assess these competencies. If no transfer equivalent satisfies the
requirements, you will be required to take these placement tests. If you have taken these tests or
feel you have met the competency requirements you will need to contact an academic advisor. Your credit
evaluation will notify you of your status regarding these requirements. Contact
an Academic Advisor for more information on competency requirements.
DOES MY GPA TRANSFER FROM MY PREVIOUS COLLEGE?
No. Your UW Green Bay grade point average is calculated only on coursework attempted at UW Green Bay.
