PLAN AHEAD
Be aware of admission requirements, and apply early!
Consult with your Academic or Faculty Advisor at both your current
campus and your intended transfer institution as you plan your coursework
each semester!
We highly recommend using the Transfer
Information System (TIS) web site, as it will give you all the
details you need for transferring within the UW-System.
BE IN THE KNOW
Know the graduation requirements that apply to you! Also, be sure to learn
the admission requirements for the transfer institution and
the college or school and program you wish to enter by consulting
the UW-Help Online web site or the Transfer
Information System (TIS)
web site. If you are transferring from a UW College (two-year
UW) campus, refer to the transfer guides. These are great resources
that have been
created just for you!
MAKE SURE UW-GREEN BAY OFFERS YOUR CHOSEN MAJOR.
Familiarize yourself with our majors and minors. Do not assume that UW-Green Bay offers the major you
are pursuing. You want to be sure that we can meet your academic interests and goals before you apply.
BE AWARE OF SPECIFIC MAJOR ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Each of the following programs has unique admission/application requirements, including a minimum GPA
requirement. If you are considering any of these majors/minors we strongly suggest that you learn about
the admission requirements and process for gaining entry into these programs of study at the links
provided below.
BE AWARE OF UWGB POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
All schools have different policies, procedures, and deadlines. Don’t assume UWGB has the same deadlines
and policies as your previous school. The cover of the Registrar's
site has a list of important dates
including: Add/Drop deadline, Drop deadline for all courses, Withdrawal deadline etc. All policies and
procedures are outlined in the Undergraduate Catalog. Familiarize yourself with UWGB’s requirements. You
are responsible for making sure you are on the right track.
FILE FORMS ON TIME
Transfer students must complete an application for admission and submit transcripts from all schools
previously attended. Unless you are transferring from a two-year UW college campus, an application fee
is required.
It is important to complete the application process as early as possible. Transfer students who have been
admitted and whose credit evaluations are completed are permitted to register for classes with continuing
students.
ABOUT YOUR FINANCIAL AID
Financial aid does not transfer, so you need to make sure that UW-Green Bay gets a copy of your financial
aid application.
The UW-Green Bay school code is 003899.
If you are a mid-year transfer, make sure that your prior school cancels your semester two financial aid.
Submit your academic transcript as soon as possible so your financial aid is awarded using the correct number
of credits.
For more information, contact the Financial
Aid Office at UW-Green Bay.
ASK QUESTIONS
If you have trouble with the transfer process, let those who can help you know! Contact the Academic Advising
Office or the Admissions Office of your institution for help!
Take responsibility and inquire about assignments, requirements, policies, and procedures. Learn for yourself,
not through the grapevine!
KNOW YOUR PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Whether you've chosen a major or not, you'll need to learn what pre-requisites are necessary to declare a major
in a particular subject and then what classes are needed to complete that major. Even in your first semester, it's
never too early to start fulfilling major pre-requisites or requirements.
