WHEN DO I REGISTER FOR CLASSES?

Priority registration, the period when current UWGB and new transfer students register, starts in November (spring registration) and April (fall registration). During this time, enrollment appointments are based on the number of credits you have earned. To find this date:
  1. Log on to your Student Information System (SIS) account - your username and password was sent with your acceptance packet.
  2. You will find your "Enrollment Date" on the right side of your Student Center screen. This is the first day you will be able to log on to register for classes. Click on "details" to find information on registration time. It is important to register as soon as possible.

HOW DO MY CREDITS TRANSFER?

You will receive an official credit evaluation in the mail showing how your courses transfer, as well as how they will satisfy UWGB’s General Education Requirements. If you have not received this evaluation in the mail, check in your SIS account:
  1. Log on to your SIS account (see directions above).
  2. On your Student Center page, click on the "Transfer Credit" tab.
  3. Click on "Detail" for each institution to see how your credits have transferred to UWGB.

  4. FYI: Credit evaluations are done on a first-come, first-served basis. If you do not have a credit evaluation completed by your registration appointment, contact Academic Advising (920-465-5105) for assistance.

WHICH COURSES SHOULD I TAKE?

When deciding which courses to enroll in, start by considering the following questions:

A. Have you fulfilled the basic English and math competency?
  • If you received your credit evaluation in the mail, the attached yellow sheet is the Transfer Student General Education Summary. Your math/English competency is assessed on this sheet.
    • All students must satisfy the English competency requirement by completing Eng Comp 100 or 105 (or an equivalent transfer course) or by a minimum score of 25 on the English portion of the ACT test.
    • All students must satisfy the math competency requirement by completing UWGB’s Math 094 or higher (or an equivalent transfer course) or a sufficient Wisconsin Math Placement Test (WMPT) score.
B. Do you need to fulfill any General Education Requirements?
  • If you received your credit evaluation in the mail, the yellow sheet attached will tell you which general education requirements you still need to satisfy. Any blank lines are unmet requirements. If you have a question about why a requirement is not satisfied, please ask!
  • Use your Degree Progress Report
    1. Log on to your SIS account.
    2. On your Student Center page, under "Academics" click on the link for "Degree Progress".
    3. In the "Report Type" field, select "Transcript & Full Advising Rpt".
    4. When using this report, look for any of the requirements that are in bold print. These are the requirements that you still need to fulfill.
C. What do I need to take for my major/minor?
  • You will find the requirements for each major and minor in the Undergraduate Catalog. You can view the catalog online at www.uwgb.edu/catalog/undrgrad.
  • If you have a transfer course that you believe should count towards the major, but is transferring in as an elective course, you will need to contact the chair of the department. Be prepared to provide a course description and/or syllabus to the department chairperson. You can find a list of department chairs at www.uwgb.edu/advising/directory.
D. Be aware of UWGB’s Interdisciplinary requirement.
  • All students must complete an interdisciplinary major or minor. If you choose a disciplinary major, you must also complete a major or minor listed under interdisciplinary. Please refer to www.uwgb.edu/catalog/undrgrad/planning.htm for a list of majors/minors and more information about planning an academic program.

HOW DO I SEARCH FOR AVAILABLE COURSES?

Use the following search tools to find which courses are offered and their availability.

A. Schedule of Classes
  • Use the "Basic Class Search" to view all course offered for a particular semester
  • Use the "Advanced Class Search" to narrow your search. You can limit your search to a particular department, open courses, day of classes, etc.
  • Click on the blue "i" for more information about each course
B. Course Availability
  • Allows you to search for course offerings for specific general education, major, and/or minor requirements.
  • Click on "Fall 2006 Offerings" (or appropriate semester) to view day, time, availability of course.
  • Click on the title of the course for a course description.
C. Student Information System (SIS)
  • Under Academics, click on "Add a Class", and then "search".

HOW DO I REGISTER?

Registration is completed through the Student Information System (SIS). You will log on to SIS with the Username and Password sent in your acceptance packet. Please refer to the instructions at www.uwgb.edu/sis under "Help" for detailed information on how to complete the process. It’s a good idea to have your schedule of classes organized before starting the registration process. Be sure you know the name of your course, the day/time it meets, and the 4-5 digit class number.
