Alumni, faculty and friends of UW-Green Bay’s Social Work program gathered Friday, Oct. 23, at the Weidner Center on campus, to celebrate their program and raise funds to support student scholarships. Current and retired faculty greeted nearly 60 alumni and guests. Joseph Becwar, ‘90, traveled from New York City for this first-ever event. The evening included comments from Loretta Larkey, an ‘88 graduate and recently retired University faculty member. The social work program became accredited in 1988. The Phoenix women’s basketball team topped the Horizon League’s preseason poll. The team was predicted to win its 12th straight league title this year. The regular season begins Nov. 13 at North Dakota with exhibition games already in full swing.
