Design Core
The Design Core consists of four foundation courses that familiarize students with the language of art, applying the elements and principles of art and design, concept-forming basics, problem solving, the design process, materials, and safety. Students are advised to complete the four design core courses by the end of their sophomore year or earlier. The Design Core must be completed before enrolling in any 300 or 400 level studio course.
These lower-level art courses have a priority registration designation to reserve seats for declared art majors or minors. All of these courses are offered in fall and spring and are three-credit courses unless noted otherwise. Seek advising early.
