Graphic Communications Minor AVD
AVD homepage
Graphic Communications focuses on integrating text and images into coherent and effective communication. Combined with a major in art the emphasis prepares students for a broad array of careers in advertising, graphic design, publishing, web design, illustration, and photography. Graduate study in graphic design, visual communication, or art are other possibilities. The emphasis has an active internship component through which students can gain professional experience.
The graphic communications core begins with Intro to Graphic Communications, a four-credit combination lecture and lab course that combines the history of graphic design, problem solving, and learning Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. It is only offered in the fall semesters. Two-Dimensional Design is a prerequisite for this course. At the minimum it takes two years to complete the graphic communications minor as the courses must be taken consecutively.
