Membership
To be a member of ASA, students must pay dues: $15 per semester of $20 per year.
To run for an office, the student must be a paid member of the organization with a major/minor in accounting and have completed intermediate accounting. However, experience in other student organizations may be an exception to this criteria.

Secretary may hold that office for two consecutive terms if re-elected.

Only paid members of the ASA
By secret ballot
To be held at the last meeting before April 1.

Upon notification, newly elected officers will perform the duties of their position under the guidance of current officers.
The necessary paperwork will be signed and filed at the last meeting of the spring semester. Note: Newly elected officers will be responsible for the coordination of the end of the year social activity.
Special Election
A special election is an election held before the general election to fill a vacated spot of an officer before term of office is completed.
If both the President and the Vice President positions are vacated, the election will be for those two positions. If only the President's position is vacated, the Vice President then becomes President and the election is for a new Vice President. If the Vice President, Secretary, or Treasurer vacates, then the election is for the position vacated.
Anyone elected in a special election is eligible to run in a general election. A special election officer is not considered to have served a full term and is, therefore, eligible in general election.
