•  ABOUT THE SPATIAL DATA ARCHIVE  •

Development of the archive began when Mike Stiefvater was hired by the Biodiversity Center to assist grad students with the mapping aspects of their thesis work. The importance of access to data was immediately apparent. Mike's recommendation that development of a data archive be added to the position description was accepted and the work has been ongoing since then.

Data Archive Goals and Activities
The primary goal of the spatial data archive is to furnish our users with enough frequently used databases such that typical projects can get off to a fairly fast start. We believe it is impossible to do a credible project in the course of a 14-week semester without this kind of jump start

Our Operating Philosophy Is "Do Unto Others..."
The services described here are offered "no-strings" to the entire UWGB community regardless of program affiliation. We ask GIS users who have their own data resources to contribute their "good stuff" to the archive.
