CCB Proprietary Data Holdings

Many local governmental units (LGUs) create GIS-compatible geographic information for their own use. The data created by LGUs is often the most detailed available for a particular area of interest. It is also represents a substantial investment of money and effort so data owners often require license agreements and/or payment of fees from external users of their information. The Cofrin Center for Biodiversity has been the point contact at UWGB for setting up licensing agreements with LGUs. The typical license agreement authorizes UWGB to use the information free of charge or for a nominal handling fee. In return, UWGB agrees to use the data exclusively for University coursework and non-commercial research. Giving or selling the data to others is not permitted. New license agreements can be written to meet the needs of a specific project or course. Geographic information available at UWGB via data-licensing agreements is listed below:
