3. Sensiba Wildlife Area

Sensiba sign. General Description

Part of the 1101 acre Green Bay West Shore Wildlife Area, this significant site includes a large diked marsh, adjacent floodplain forest and extensive shrub wetlands. Sensiba is one of the most accessible and diverse wetlands in lower Green Bay.

The marshes at Sensiba can be outstanding for birdwatching and observation of wetland ecosystems. Yellow-headed Blackbirds nest during summer, and herons, egrets, and terns can usually be found feeding in the coastal wetlands. Near dawn or dusk, secretive species like bitterns and rails are good possibilities. Bald Eagle, Osprey, River Otter, Mink, and many other interesting animals and plants have been observed at this outstanding wildlife area.
