  • Ecological Restoration Mechanical and chemical control of woody and herbaceous invasive species in prairies, oak savannas, woodlands, and wetlands. Prescribed burning.  Ecological restoration, such as site preparation, planting, assessments, monitoring, etc. Open until filled.
  • Field Manager The Field Manager will participate in and oversee diverse field sampling and monitoring of the vegetation, soil, woody debris, and microclimate throughout a 7 month field season. Open until filled.
  • Field Research Assistant Needed, May 23 to mid-July, to complete surveys of breeding birds in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin as part of a long-term monitoring program on national forests of the western Great Lakes region. Open until filled.
  • Horicon National Wildlife Refuge The visitor services program at Horicon National Wildlife Refuge (northern two-thirds of Horicon Marsh) is trying to recruit a student for a STEP position to work in the visitor services program (and some biological work) for either the summer or fall. Studen should havesome coursework in biology and either an interest in education or some experience in environmental education or interpretation. Contact Erin Railsback at 920-387-2658 x 24. Mukwonago Land Steward The Mukwonago Land Steward will serve as the primary lead for implementing land management and restoration activities for the Mukwonago River Project lands and several additional regional preserves. The position will also be responsible for leading volunteer efforts in the area and may supervise seasonal employees and interns. Position will negotiate and help draft contracts for land management work and agricultural leases within the project area.  The position will involve extensive interaction with partners and the public through leading field trips, assisting with research projects and working with neighboring landowners to help them seek out opportunities to manage native habitat.  In addition the successful applicant will participate fully with the state fire management program throughout central and southern Wisconsin.

Regional Conservation Director The Minnesota Land Trustseeking a conservation professional to manage the Minnesota Land Trust's program in the southern tier of counties, with an emphasis on the important Blufflands region along the Mississippi River. Open until filled.

Senior Aquatic Ecologist The Senior Aquatic Ecologist will provide leadership, science, and advice to the Nature Conservancy and its partners to establish and implement holistic aquatic conservation and protection strategies at priority freshwater systems in the Great Lakes region.

State Park Interpreter This position will serve as the Full Time Interpreter at Cross Ranch State Park.  A primary function will be Interpretation related to the natural, historical, and cultural aspects of the Missouri River Valley, including the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Deadline May 10, 2008.

Wildlife / Wetland Field Assistants Field assistants are needed to study Swamp Sparrow population dynamics at restored and natural wetlands in Wisconsin. Duties include nest searching and monitoring, mist-netting, banding nestlings, and measuring wetland vegetation. Last Date to apply: May 16, 2008.

Some of the many positions include: research interns for Burrowing Owls, tern colony site managers, and songbird banding interns. Many positions run from mid-May to mid-August and include stipends of up to $1,400 per month.
