Bird Survey Site 3

Inlet, Summer 1999 Site 3 overlooks the inlet to the westernmost lagoon. Behind the camera is a small strip of woods that separates two marshy areas. Beyond the trees in the background is the bay. This habitat heterogeneity supports many different bird species. Raptors such as Merlins, Red-tailed Hawks and Sharp-shinned Hawks have been seen perched high up in the trees so that they can overlook both the bayshore and the lagoon. Rails and Song Sparrows frequented the rushes and Spotted Sandpipers were commonly found feeding along the edge of the channel.
