Bird Survey Site 6

Site 6 is the westernmost point on Point Sauble.  This is also a favorite duck hunting spot and the adjacent waters are visited frequently by hunters during October and November.  The point counts are conducted from a blind to avoid disturbing birds on the tip of the Point. Gulls and terns are commonly observed here throughout the spring, summer and fall.  In early fall, large flocks of ducks, geese, cormorants and shorebirds congregate on the exposed point.  The rocky shores make it an excellent spot to see sanderlings during migration.  During the spring and fall passerine migration, large flocks of warblers, kinglets, goldfinches and even blue jays can be seen leaving the point and heading towards Green Bay.
