Your browser must be enabled for JavaScript, Cookies, Pop-up windows, and Audio play. This page automatically checks if your browser is JavaScript and Cookie enabled. Click the buttons to check if your browser is set for Pop-up windows and Audio play.

Yes! Cookie check passed.

Pop-up Check If a new blank page does not open, see below for instructions to enable pop-ups in your browser.
Audio Check A new page will open with an audio clip (be patient as the clip may be slow to load). If the audio clip does not appear (but an icon appears in its place), or the audio clip will not play when you click on it, see below for assistance.

Tip: Close all other programs on your computer to maximize memory available for the tests. The image and audio files on the identification tests are large and can take time to load. Note: Dial-up users may not be able to take the identification tests in the alloted test time simply due to the slow download speed of dial-up internet service. Be sure to take the Practice Tests first!

Enabling JavaScript. If you are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Security and set the Security setting no higher than Default level; or if using Custom level, check Active Scripting to Enable. For Firefox go to Tools, Options, Content and check Enable JavaScript.

Enabling Cookies. If you are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Privacy and set no higher than Default level; or add http://www.uwgb.edu/birds/certification to allowed sites. For Firefox, go to Tools, Options, Privacy and check Accept Cookies; or add http://www.uwgb.edu/birds/certification to allowed sites.

Enabling Pop-ups. If you are using Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Privacy (for Firefox go to Tools, Options, Content) and either click off Pop-Up Blocker or add http://www.uwgb.edu/birds/certification to allowed sites.

Enabling Audio. The audio identification test uses "pseudo-streaming" to play MP3 audio files. If you are using Internet Explorer, compatible audio players include Windows Media Player, Real Player and Quicktime. For Firefox users, Crescendo and Quicktime are compatible audio players. Your browser must have an audio player plug-in installed. In many cases, if you do not have an audio plug-in installed, your browser will prompt you to download the plug-in (or the necessary player software). The audio player must be set to play MP3 and MPEG files. To determine if your audio player is set to play MP3/MPEG files: for Windows Media Player, go to Tools, Options, File Types; for Real Player, go to Tools, Preferences, Content, Media Types; for QuickTime, go to Edit, Preferences, QuickTime Preferences, File Types.
