News of the NNF Bird Survey
The 27th NNF Bird Survey will be held during the weekend of June 7-9, 2013, in the southern half of the forest. Headquarters will be at LeFeber Scout Camp on Hardwood Lake northwest of Wabeno. Lodging in dormitories and Saturday dinner will be provided free of charge for volunteers. Anyone interested in birds and conservation is encouraged to participate. Volunteers work in teams to sample birds at permanent points representing the major habitat types within the eastern Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. For the first time, special sets of easy-access sites will be established for birders who are not able to walk long distances or through difficult terrain. Registration can be sent by mail with the form provided below or you can register by contacting Robert Howe by at hower@uwgb.edu.
If you decide to come at the last minute - just show up and we will find a place for you!
A checklist of Birds of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest is available for comments and corrections. Please contact Bob Howe or Amy Wolf with your suggested changes.
