Why HRM?

Our human resource management emphasis prepares you to understand specific challenges facing HRM in a global economy and the impact on broader organizational strategies. One unique competitive advantage is that you will work directly on-site with real organizations to develop diagnostic skills and apply the practical tools and techniques of HRM, such recruiting, selection, training & development, compensation, and performance management. You will hone your knowledge of HRM practices to make a difference in organizations and make yourself indispensable.

What value will I get from an HRM emphasis?

Compared to many universities, we offer many experiential opportunities to apply the trade of HRM. You gain hands-on experience in nearly every HRM course by working on projects that actual HR professional do on a regular basis. Similarly, you can gain additional experience through independent studies, which will allow you to develop an area of specialization. We help you develop a competitive advantage by offering a unique approach to broaden your understanding of HRM challenges and applying those skills so you can be better prepared to be an effective HR professional. You could also get involved in our collegiate Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) as well as travel abroad to gain global experience.
