Mark King

Mark King, President and CEO of TaylorMade-adidas Golf, the world’s largest golf equipment company, will present the keynote address for “Business Week.” Under his guidance, TaylorMade-adidas Golf has grown during the past decade from $300 million in sales to an industry-leading $1.4 billion in 2011.

A dynamic speaker and proven business leader, King routinely deals with the world’s top professional golfers and frequently crosses paths with elite members of the worlds of commerce, sports, politics and entertainment. The Green Bay native has been profiled in the Harvard Business Review, Fortune and PGA Magazine.

A 1981 graduate of UW-Green Bay, King is closely connected to his alma mater, supporting a prestigious golf fundraiser for Phoenix athletics, delivering the December 2007 commencement address and recently joining the Chancellor’s Council of Trustees. One of UWGB’s own, King has distinct and refreshing insight on the value of building relationships and "partnering for success."

Not sure which fork to use or which glass is your water glass? Interested to learn tips about creating casual meal conversation with people you do not know? The Dining Like a Professional Etiquette Lunch will provide the opportunity for students to learn from an expert in the field, practice these important skills and enjoy a wonderful meal with business and community professionals. For current students and recent alumni.

Mock Interview Day

Interview skills are critical for today’s job seeker. With an abundant supply of applicants, competition for positions is strong. Therefore, job candidates need to learn how to effectively convey their strengths and qualifications, along with their interest and enthusiasm for the opportunity, to the prospective employer. This Mock Interview Day will bring more than 20 business and community professionals to UW-Green Bay for the single purpose of helping students to enhance their interview skills. Each interviewer will ask typical interview questions for approximately 20 minutes, and then provide feedback about students' performance. This is a great way to develop interview skills in a no-risk setting. More than 80 interviews are planned.

Business Plan Competition

In conjunction with the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (IEI) as well as the Small Business Development Center, The Cofrin School of Business will host a business plan competition. The IEI was awarded $10,000 from the Kauffman Foundation and UW-Madison to host the competition. Approximately 30 student entrants will pitch their business plans to senior business leaders from the community. The winners will be honored at the Business Week Keynote dinner as well as receiving an award to help them in their future scholastic endeavors.

Insider Panel: Tips on the Job Search

Cofrin School of Business faculty and HR professionals from the business community present some best practices on interviewing skills. Students will have the opportunity to ask candid questions about what to expect during the interview process and how to best present themselves as they make the transition from college to the working world.

Effectively communicating face-to-face with employers is essential for students who will be seeking internships or full-time positions. Explore career options in various fields, build networks, identify potential job shadow experiences, or connect with employers about full-time jobs and internship opportunities.
