Dr. Gaurav Bansal is an assistant professor of management information systems (MIS) for the Austin E. Cofrin School of Business at UW-Green Bay. He received his Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 2008 and his M.B.A. from Kent State University, Ohio in 2002. He completed his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from University of Gorakhpur, India in 1996.
Dr. Bansal is currently teaching a wide variety of classes in business statistics and management information systems. He has won several teaching accolades. He was recognized as UWGB teaching scholar in 2010-2011 and Wisconsin Teaching Fellow in 2013-2014. He was also named as UWGB - Advanced online teaching fellow in 2013.
In terms of research, Dr. Bansal’s current research interests are in the areas of trust, privacy and security concerns and data analytics. He has published in Journal of Management Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Journal of Computer Information Systems, and Journal of Organizational Computing and Ecommerce. He has also authored several conference proceedings and has presented his work at national and international level. His research has won several nominations and best paper awards at prestigious national and international MIS conferences. He encourages and enjoys working with his students on research projects. His research wok with UWGB undergraduate students has won best paper awards at regional MIS conferences.
Dr. Bansal is an active member of Association of Information Systems (AIS) community. Dr. Bansal served as Conference chair for 12th Midwest AIS conference held at Green Bay in May 2012. He also actively servers as minitrack chair/co-chair at AMCIS – which is a premier annual AIS conference held in western hemisphere. He also regularly reviews for top journals and conferences in his area. He is an engaged citizen of Green Bay community. He is serving on Brown County Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration Event Committee. He is also a steering committee member of Community Information Systems (CIS) – an initiative of United Way of Brown County. He is proud alum of Leadership Green Bay class of 2011 – a program of Green Bay Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Bansal actively participates in on-campus activities as well.
