EXTENDING A HELPING HAND
Photo collage of faculty and students working together.
Even a student with great potential and motivation may struggle with a particular academic subject, choosing a major or adjusting to college life. Considering the potential payback, a little extra help at this point can well be worth it. A Named Academic Success Center provides 'one-stop shopping' for students in need of advising, academic support and opportunities for personal growth. Services and opportunities the center offers — especially for those offered during a student's first year on campus — will increase the likelihood of a student staying in school and graduating.
  Named Academic Success Center . . . .
. . . . Enhances prospects for success of disadvantaged students or those whose academic plans are unclear.
. . . . Provides support that first-year students need to excel.
. . . . Bolsters academic careers of students who are uncertain about their majors and need additional guidance.
. . . . Improves UW-Green Bay’s ability to retain students from their enrollment as freshmen through graduation.
. . . . Coordinates student advising and other support services that help students succeed in college.
. . . . Is an important resource at a time when UW-Green Bay is serving many students — nearly 60 percent of first-year students — who represent the first generation of their families to pursue a college education.
. . . . Helps UW-Green Bay fulfill its dual missions of providing educational access and quality.
