Karl
Zehms: Accounting Scholarship Endowment

What
is a fitting tribute for a man who cared so deeply
for his students? Many feel the answer is philanthropic
support for accounting students who annually distinguish
themselves as the program’s best and brightest.
This “gift” will mean a long and continuing
tribute in honor of Karl’s legacy. Click here

For 37 Years Karl Zehms served
UW-Green Bay and Northeast Wisconsin as an accounting
professor and business program chair. To many, he
is much more than a former instructor; he is a wise
mentor and close friend.
The Karl Zehms Accounting Scholarship has been created
through gifts by alumni, friends and accounting firms
to pay tribute to the man who masterfully and intensively
instructed and mentored accounting and business students
at UW-Green Bay. The goal is to raise a minimum of
$100,000.
Earnings generated from the scholarship endowment
fund will provide minimum annual scholarships of
$1,500 to be awarded by the scholarship selection
committee of the accounting program. Students who
are selected for the scholarship will need to maintain
a 3.0 GPA and have declared an accounting major.
Consider the many accomplishments that can be attributed,
in great part, to Karl Zehms:
— Pass rates of the rigorous CPA exams by his
students have consistently far exceeded national
averages
— Impressive employment and post-graduation
rates
— Founder of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance,
a local service that supports hundreds of low-income
and special-needs households annually
— Leadership
role in active student organizations that provided
key experience and contact with businesses
— Key relationships with top regional firms
— Master’s of Management Program development
that has leadership, innovation, strategic thinking
and communication as its cornerstones
— Chair of Business Administration at UW-Green
Bay for an unprecedented 16 years
And, the more than 1,200 students to receive an accounting
degree at UW-Green Bay who have continued to excel
in your professional careers.
Thank you for considering a gift to the Karl Zehms
Accounting Scholarship.

SALUTE...HONOR...APPRECIATE
When I sat in a roomful of
other Ph.D. candidates, from many different undergraduate
institutions, I realized they didn’t have anything
on me in regard to academic grounding and preparedness.
