1. Does UW-Green
Bay offer any scholarships for camps?
The few scholarships UW-Green Bay awards, go to outstanding campers from the previous year’s camp. However, there are a few miscellaneous scholarships available through other sources:
Department of Public Instruction (DPI)
Full scholarships may be available to students who qualify for the DPI Pre-College scholarship program. These scholarships are limited and financial need based. To qualify they must:
Have at least a 2.5 GPA in core academic subjects (i.e., science, social studies, etc.)
Be a resident of Wisconsin
Be entering grade 6 through 12 in the coming fall
Must apply using a (DPI Scholarship application, part 1) which involves obtaining appropriate signatures and grade transcripts. The application with original signatures must be returned for consideration. All materials should be sent to UW-Green Bay to know if UW-Green Bay has money available and for approval. UW-Green Bay will inform you as to whether or not all requirements have been fulfilled.
- Must complete the Financial Need Assessment Form (DPI scholarship form, part 2) and return it to UW-Green Bay along with your registration application.
Wisconsin State Fair Scholarship (for art campers):
The Wisconsin State Fair holds a Young People's Art Exhibit each spring; ten scholarships (covering the instructional fee and room and board, but not covering lab fees) to the Summer Art Studio will be given this year. For more information, contact the State Fair offices at (414) 777-0580 or your art teacher.

3. Who do
I make the check payable to?
Please make the check payable to “UW-Green Bay”.
4. When is
the registration form with payment due?
The final payment should be in our office two weeks prior to the start of camp. This includes scholarships (with the exception of those listed above). If a scholarship will not be sent to us until after the camp has finished, we will gladly refund the money to you when we receive the scholarship.
5. What is
a typical, daily schedule?
Daily schedules are listed in each confirmation letter. Generally, most camps begin at 8:30 a.m. with ending times between 3:40 for large music camps to 4:00 p.m. for others.
6. What is
the refund/cancellation policy?
In the event a student must cancel, the request for refund must be received in writing in the Office of Outreach and Extension no later than three weeks prior to the start of camp in order to receive a full refund. Requests received after that date will receive a full refund, less a non-refundable application fee of $50.00. No refunds will be made for withdrawal due to homesickness, sending a student home for disciplinary reasons, or after the first day of camp.
We reserve the right to cancel any camp due to low enrollment; in such a case, all fees paid will be refunded or the student can choose to apply fees to a different camp/class in the same year.
Please note: Overpayments of $10 or more will be refunded.
7. May I
pay for my student’s music, incidentals, evening activities, etc. prior to
the start of camp?
The only fees we will accept prior to the start of camp are those listed on our web pages or in our brochure for any applicable materials/lab fees. Any overpayments will be refunded.
8. How soon
can I expect a refund?
If paying by check or cash, a check will be requested through UW-Green Bay’s Bursar’s Office. This process should only take about 10 business days. However, about a month or so before university classes begin and until a month or so into the semester, the process is slowed down because of tuition billings and university students adding and withdrawing from classes. During these times, your refund may take up to four to six weeks. If paying by credit card, the refund can be done within 3 business days through our office.
9. What about
a roommate if my student resides on campus during the week?
If a request for a roommate is made on the registration form or online, we make every attempt to honor that request. If more than one person requests the student as a roommate, we will place the student with whom he/she requests. We also attempt to put similar requests for roommates in adjacent rooms if more than three people are involved. Only two persons are allowed to a room. If a roommate is not requested, we will place the student with someone of about the same age/grade.
10. What
about supervision of my student staying on campus?
Highly trained counselors are on duty from 3:15 p.m. (before instructional classes are excused) until 8:30 a.m. (after instructional classes have begun). Counselors stay on campus overnight in assigned buildings and are responsible for campers. All evening activities are supervised.
11. What
time does my student need to be at camp on Sunday?
The time your student needs to be here on Sunday depends upon the camp. After check-in has been completed, an orientation meeting and auditions are scheduled. (Auditions are only required for the music camps. Auditions simply place students into the proper performing groups and do not exclude anyone from the camp). Note: Please read your confirmation letter for more information. Some camps require that commuters and/or residents register on Monday morning.
12. What
if my student cannot make the Sunday auditions?
If campers cannot be here on Sunday, the general policy is he/she will be placed into whatever group has available room. In every case, they should send a letter to the attention of that particular camp director indicating his/her circumstances. Sometimes audition arrangements can be worked out (i.e., audition prior to the camp or early on Monday morning). The camp director coordinates these special arrangements. You may send an email to Mona Christensen, christem@uwgb.edu, and we will forward it to the appropriate camp director.
13. Where
does my student stay on campus?
Students are assigned rooms by gender and age. Dorms are either all-girl or all-boy. The dorm rooms are two-person with a private bathroom. Fans are strongly encouraged since dorm rooms are not air-conditioned. Refrigerators are NOT available in the dorm rooms. If a health condition requires that medication be chilled or there are other circumstances involved, we will make arrangements to have a refrigerator available for your child. There are NO EXCEPTIONS to this policy. We will need a letter or email from the parent requesting this service.
14. What
is a typical evening schedule?
4:00 p.m. Mail Call
4:30-6:00 p.m. Dinner
6:30-9:30 p.m. Evening Activities
10:00 p.m. Floor Meeting/Activity Sign-up
10:30 p.m. Room Check
11:00 p.m. Lights Out*For middle school camps, lights out occurs at 10:30.

Note: If the commuter student leaves campus during any part of the camp session (including lunch) he/she may be dismissed for the remainder of the camp without a refund.

classes does my student choose for Summer Art Studio for the week?
A high school student will only be placed in ONE class during the week for Summer Art Studio. Middle school students will be placed in TWO classes; one in the morning, and one in the afternoon. No, a physical is not required. However, all students are required to bring a completed and signed health form with them in the first day of camp.
