Join us for a week filled with rockets, robotics, astronauts, scientists, and space flight simulations!
Program participants will take part in a wide range of training sessions, meet research scientists and aerospace professionals, conduct space science experiments, participate in space flight simulations, and much more during this exciting, week-long program at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Space Experience cadets will have the opportunity to design, build, and test their own space mission, including working with rockets, heat shields and recovery systems. In addition, cadets will be trained to use a solar telescope, navigate using the space-based Global Positioning System (GPS), and receive cadet astronaut training.
Special Features of the Camp
• Back by popular demand! Neutral Buoyancy Training:
You will have the opportunity to undergo the same neutral buoyancy training
that astronauts receive prior to performing space walks. This optional activity
will be performed in the University's pool with actual NASA personnel.
• Visits from Aerospace Professionals: You will attend
daily talks from people working in the space science industry.
• Planetarium Visit: Participants will visit a local
Planetarium and receive a presentation on the summer sky and the history of
constellations.
• Visit from a NASA Astronaut: You will be treated
to a visit from a former NASA astronaut Mark Lee, a Wisconsin
Native with four Space Shuttle flights to his credit.
• Final Presentation: A closing ceremony is scheduled
for Friday afternoon from 3:00 - 3:30 p.m. Parents, family members and guests
are welcome to attend.
•Participants will also have the chance to fly the new X-Plane
Flight simulation through Space Explorers Inc.
• Plus plenty of hands on activities like building and riding hovercrafts
and launching rockets.
