The ExperienceWhether you are in band, orchestra or choir, this music camp will provide you with many new skills that you can take back to your school in Fall. You and your parents will be amazed at the musical progress you will make during this one week camp. You will meet new friends who share the same love for music that you do; and you will be inspired to continue on this amazing journey in the musical arts! Join us as we celebrate our 45th year -- a musical tradition at UW-Green Bay! BandBy popular request, Professor Kevin Collins, the UWGB Music Camps Director and UWGB's Director of Bands, will conduct the primary camp band, the Wind Symphony. Dr. Scott Wright, our virtuoso clarinetist and fabulous conductor will conduct the Symphonic Band. A Sunday afternoon audition will determine band and orchestral wind/percussion placement. OrchestraGuaranteed to motivate and inspire you, Orchestra students equally enjoy this camp. You will participate in multiple rehearsals, sectionals and masterclasses that will bring you to a new level of musicianship. The Orchestra Director this summer will be Valerie Palmieri. ChoirSenior high voice students will be members of the Phoenix Chorale, conducted by UW-Green Bay Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Randall Anton Meder. Though the in-depth exploration of vocal technique and musical concepts, you'll be finding your own voice, and making memorable music with other serious singers like yourself. AGAIN THIS YEAR: Are you a choir student interested in Musical Theatre? You can participate in musical theatre instruction, culminating in a joint performance with the All-Camp Chorus in the Weidner Center. Limited to 20 students, Musical Theatre track students will receive an introduction to movement, acting and singing style. Register early for this one! ScheduleThe camp week begins Sunday afternoon, July 18, with auditions and an all-camp meeting. Daily sessions are held Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. A typical daily schedule is:
EligibilityStudents entering grades 9–12 in the fall are eligible to apply. All campers must be recommended by a parent or guardian and a school music director. Their signatures must appear on the application form in order for the student to be considered. Signatures are not required for online registrations. 7th Hour Options Summer 2009 (Summer 2010 Coming Soon)Camp Chorus Amy Thiel/Randall Meder Directors The 2009 Camp Chorus will present your favorite tunes in a performance that will inspire your parents and friends. This year's offering, "Hooray for Hollywood" will feature show-stoppers from the big screen, closing out the Saturday Weidner Concert in spectacular style. Diverse Styles (Instrumental Ensembles) This year's instrumental ensembles will explore diverse and exciting new repertoire, from world music, to jazz, pop and folk.
