General Academic Requirements: 
Minimum 2.75 GPA, Junior or Senior standing, and Accounting or Business Administration major.

Procedures for Participation: Contact Brent Hussin at least one semester prior to the semester in which you would like to intern.

Accounting and Business Administration internship credits count toward degree requirements as upper-level electives only.  All Accounting and Business Administration internships are graded on a pass/no-credit basis. Accounting majors are limited to a total of 6 internship credits.

Computer Science at UW-Green Bay
Information Sciences at UW-Green Bay

General Academic Requirements:  Typical requirements include Junior standing, B average or better, at least two semesters programming experience, good oral and writing skills, and (sometimes) experience in any number of specific software packages.

Procedures for Participation - General:  You must get a list of job expectations and requirements. Intern supervisor must agree to provide a written evaluation of your work. You must also provide a written and oral presentation to the faculty supervisor. Anything else depends on the particular internship.

Procedures for Participation - Information Sciences and Computer Science: An internship or practicum project is required of all students majoring in Information Sciences.  An internship, capstone, or honors project is required of all students majoring in Computer Science.  Internships are acquired by:
  • faculty being contacted by sponsoring organization,
  • your initiative in developing an internship opportunity,
  • faculty initiative.
Spend approximately 125 hours over the duration of the internship. You must produce major examples of work accomplished.

Although an internship can range from 3 to 12 credits, a maximum of 3 credits will count toward the upper level requirements for the Computer Science or Information Sciences majors.

General Academic Requirements: 
Junior standing and successful completion of Earth Science 222 and Environmental Science 325.

Procedures for Participation:  Arrangement can be made with one of the local television station meteorologists for an internship in television/broadcast meteorology. Students learn to assemble a weather forecast within the constraints imposed by broadcast schedule. Intended for students interested in TV meteorology as a career.

Earth Science internship credits count toward degree requirements.

Education Program at UW-Green Bay

General Academic Requirements:
Must be admitted to the UW-Green Bay Education Program and be qualified to do student teaching. Minimum GPA required:
  • 2.75 for Student Teaching and a minimum of 100 hours of program approved field/clinical experiences through UW-Green Bay program courses.
  • 3.0 for Internship and a minimum of 150 hours of program approved field/clinical experiences through program courses.

Procedures for Participation:  Individual school districts establish internships through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in specific academic areas. Students who are interested in applying for an internship should contact the Professional Program in Education.  Names of interested students will be forwarded to the school district(s) and the student may be contacted for an interview.  If chosen for an internship, the student will also apply for a Wisconsin intern license. Application information is available from the Professional Program in Education. 

Education internships receive 12 credits toward degree requirements.

Fees:  There is a $250 internship application fee and $50 internship license fee.

  1. For each credit, the student must complete 45-50 hours of internship activity including: research, preparing reports, and consultations with advisors.
  2. The internship must be jointly supervised by organizational and faculty advisors.
  3. An internship contract must be developed no later than two weeks after the beginning of the semester.
  4. A final report, prepared by the intern, will describe: the project and objectives, the intern's role, the progress of the project, and personal lessons learned.

Grades will be determined by the UW-Green Bay advisor in consultation with the organizational advisor and will be based on work performance and the final report.

General Academic Requirements: 
There are no set guidelines. We try to find our best students that match the requirements asked of the internship. We will not recommend a student that we feel is not capable of doing a very good job.

Procedures for Participation:  The company or group sponsoring the internship makes contact with an appropriate faculty member. The goals and requirements of the internship are laid out and then a student or group of students are requested to talk to the company. After the company makes its choice, the appropriate paperwork is completed.

Mathematics internship credits may count toward degre e requirements by special consent.   While internships are not part of the degree program, there have been times when the material covered in the internship has been at the level that allows the granting of upper division elective credit in the major.

Nutritional Science (Undergraduate) Internships

General Academic Requirements:
Students who have completed or nearly completed lower level foundation courses in Nutritional Sciences, and who have completed the upper level courses which are appropriate to the specific internship are eligible to apply. Minimum GPA of 2.5 is required. Each internship is individually arranged by the student in consultation with a Nutritional Sciences advisor and an off-campus supervisor.

Nutritional Sciences internship credits count toward degree requirements.
Credit of 1-4 upper level Nutritional Sciences credits will be assigned. The credits can constitute a very important component of your major. They will not replace required core courses however.
