What do Student Affairs Professionals do!?!

Student Affairs Professionals provide services for students outside of the classroom. They:

  • improve the quality of campus life

  • enhance student learning

  • attract and retain qualified students

  • provide students with satisfactory housing, health services, and recreational facilities

  • coordinate student activities

  • manage financial aid programs

  • help students make career decisions

  • meet the needs of commuter and nontraditional students

Well that’s great for the students, but what are some of the benefits for me? 
As a Student Affairs Professional, you'll:

  • Make a difference in the live of your students

  • Have a wide variety of job choices

  • Most campuses have great benefits and opportunities for their employees as well

The salary range for Student Affairs professionals ranges between $31,000 to $44,000

Wow!  That sounds great!  What do I have to do to get started?

Most employers require a Master’s degree so grad school is probably in your future. And while a Master’s degree may be required, there is no specific undergraduate degree required.  The field is filled with undergraduate degrees ranging anywhere from Chemistry to Communications.  There are a large number of grad schools that offer programs for Student Affairs, visit this online directory to learn about programs in which you may be interested.
