Perhaps you are considering a major in one of the "liberal arts" such as English, Music, Humanistic Studies or Philosophy. Undoubtedly, you are going to hear the question, "What are you going to do with THAT major?" Are you prepared to answer that question? The Bureau of Labor Statistics published an article in their Winter 2007 issue of the Occupational Outlook Quarterly "What Can I Do With My Liberal Arts Degree?" The article addresses why employers find the liberal arts degrees desirable, average starting salaries, developing job skills, and how to market yourself to employers. View the complete article at http://www.bls.gov/opub/ooq/2007/winter/art01.pdf Another helpful resource to help student research career options for various majors includes "What Can I Do With This Major?". For each major listed it includes a link to Areas of Employment, Employers & Strategies, and Links to various career and association websites.
