Stacey Herzog, M.S.

Stacie Herzog, MS, has graduate and undergraduate degrees from UWGB. She has a state of Wisconsin license in Nursing Home Administration and as a Clinical Social Worker. She has lectured at UWGB since 1992 in Psychology, Human Development, the Adult Program and Social Work programs. Has over 20 years experience as a health care administrator and executive director in nursing homes, hospital and medical clinic systems, and outpatient mental health clinics. Professional experience includes focus on geriatrics, Alzheimer's Disease and environmental design, and Support Group facilitation for all ages. Current focus is on diverse populations and correlations on human development and in health psychology.

Doreen Higgins, Ph.D.

Doreen Higgins, PhD, MSSW, has a doctorate in Social Work from the University of Kansas, and a Master's in Social Work from UW-Madison. She also holds a Bachelor's in Social Work from UW-Green Bay. Doreen has worked as a medical social worker in a hospital setting, in hospital-based home health care in the community, and has worked extensively with older adults and family caregivers. She has also served as a certified psychotherapist in both inpatient and outpatient mental hospital-based settings. Doreen's doctoral dissertation examined perceptions of older adult homeowners on the Medicaid Estate Recovery program, with particular emphasis on the confluence of race, inheritance, homeownership, and estate recovery policy. Doreen is currently working on issues related to health care disparities in social policy, and the integration of returning older adult ex-offenders to community settings. Doreen is an Assistant Professor of Social work and teaches undergraduate and graduate social work courses. She has recently developed a new undergraduate UW-Green Bay course entitled, "You and Your Future: Living and Working in an Aging Society."

Susan Lepak-Gallagher, Ph.D.

Susan Gallagher-Lepak, RN, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Professional Program in Nursing. She received a PhD in Rehabilitation Psychology from UW - Madison (1996), MSN from UW-Milwaukee (1989), and BSN from Marquette University (1983). Her current Wisconsin licensure is a Registered Nurse and Licensed Psychologist. Several of her clinical interests and research projects include chronic illness and aging and quality of life. She has worked in a variety of professional roles in nursing and psychology over the past 20+ years (e.g., Psychologist in a rehabilitation setting, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Case Manager). Some of the courses that she has taught at UW-Green Bay in this area are Healthy Aging, Adaptation to Chronic Illness, Pharmacology, and Global Aspects of Healthcare. She uses many types of teaching strategies in campus and/or virtual classroom (e.g., small group discussion, lecture, discussion boards) to enhance learning and foster student participation in the learning experience.

Brenda Tyczkowski, PhD.

Brenda Tyczkowski RN MSN has a diploma in nursing from Bellin College, a BSN in nursing from UWGB, a MSN in nursing administration from UW-Oshkosh and is working on her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Organizational Leadership in Nursing from the University of Kansas Medical Center. She has worked as a Director of Nurses in a nursing home, nationwide consultant and trainer in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) use in nursing homes, and a nursing home surveyor for the State of Wisconsin. She is a lecturer in the Professional Program in Nursing, teaching courses including Healthy Aging, Management and Leadership, Nursing Theory and Women's Health.

The UW-Green Bay Professional Program in Nursing is a member of the Upper Midwest Geriatric Nursing Education Alliance (UMGNEA). Brenda serves as the "faculty champion" (representative) for the school. The UMGNEA website is http://www.nursing.umn.edu/Hartford/Alliance/home.html.

Brenda has been accepted as a Faculty Learning About Geriatrics (FLAG) Summer Institute scholar for 2010/2011. The one-year program includes a five-day summer institute at the University of Minnesota, access to a variety of geriatric nursing teaching resources, mentoring to support individualized professional development plans and membership in a network of nurses with expertise in geriatric nursing education.

Dean D. VonDras, Ph.D.

Dean D. VonDras, Ph.D., is an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay with appointments in the Human Development Program and Psychology Department. Dr. VonDras has published on a variety of adult development and aging topics. His current research interests include the areas of stress and memory, self-appraisal of age-associated illnesses, age and cultural influences on social support processes, spirituality and aging, and health education for older adults and their caregivers.
