UW System Faculty Development Conferences

  1. Faculty College 2012, Sponsored by the UW-System Office of Professional & Instructional Development (OPID)

    May 29 - June 1, 2012
UW-Richland Campus in Richland Center, Wisconsin

Faculty College is the UW System’s premier faculty development event. The College brings together approximately 100 faculty and instructional academic staff from across the System for three days of intensive exploration of teaching, learning and curricular issues. 2012-13 Wisconsin Teaching Fellow(s) and Wisconsin Teaching Scholar(s) are expected to attend.

This year OPID is pleased to feature an exciting lineup of workshops, and a keynote address from our featured speaker, Dr. Robert Duke, the Marlene and Morton Meyerson Centennial Professor and Head of Music and Human Learning at The University of Texas at Austin. He will present a keynote talk on Strategic Confusion. Other workshops include “Getting Started Doing Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Research” by Renee A. Meyers, Professor of Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; “Engaging the Whole Student – Theatre in the Classroom,” by Suzanne Burgoyne, Curators’ Teaching Professor at the University of Missouri and Producing Director of the University’s Interactive Theatre Troupe; and “Teaching for Engagement and Student Learning – 10 Things Every College Teacher Should Know,” by Greg Valde, Director of the LEARN Center and the Teaching Scholars Program and Associate Professor of Educational Foundations and at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Look for detailed abstracts of the seminars listed in the Faculty College 2012 brochure (PDF).

OPID pays most expenses for Faculty College, including the cost of meals and double-occupancy lodging at Richland Center for all participants. Participants who request single rooms are responsible for paying the additional costs above double-occupancy room rates.

All UW System institutions have been invited to nominate four participants. UWGB faculty and instructional academic staff who are interested in attending should contact Aeron Haynie at CATL@uwgb.edu or call 465-2199 by March 1, 2012.
