Online Teaching Fellows

About OTF

The Online Teaching Fellows program was created to support online faculty members as they strive to make their online courses engaging, rewarding and challenging for students. Our Lead Instructional Designer, Todd Dresser, runs our online teaching fellows program during the January winterim period. The blended course covers a range of pedagogical, design and technology topics that are designed to prompt participants to reflect on their online course's impact on student's learning. The blended course covers a range of pedagogical, design and technology topics that are designed to prompt participants to reflect on their online course's impact on student's learning. Our discussions both online and in-person revolve around the questions below, and many more.

  • How do I know my online students are learning as deeply as my face-to-face students?
  • How can I be more 'me' in my online course?
  • How can I be a more effective online instructor?
  • How can I be a more efficient online instructor?
  • How can I prompt deeper, more interesting discussions online?
  • How do I make my online class more relevant and more authentic for my students and myself?

Following the course, participants can further redesign their online course with the assistance of an instructional designer and technologist.
