Educating the Chancellor: Acknowledgements
Back to web page: Acknowledgements
The University and I are particularly indebted to the more than 2,000 people who took time out of busy schedules to meet with me and to discuss the future of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Many very helpful thoughts were shared, comments were consistently constructive, and a new chancellor was provided with an exceptionally warm welcoming. Almost none of the content that follows is original with me; instead, it represents the thoughts and ideas that were generously shared with me.

I also am personally indebted to the individuals who commented in detail on an early draft. Included are founding Chancellor Edward Weidner, former Interim Chancellor William Kuepper, and former Interim Provost Carol Pollis. Their insights were very helpful, particularly in helping me to place the current directions of UWGB within historical context.

The document was the basis for discussion at a planning retreat in July 2002 and, as a result of those discussions, was further revised. Provost Sue Hammersmith, Vice Chancellor Tom Maki, Assistant Chancellor Dean Rodeheaver, Assistant Chancellor Charles Wilson, Dean Carol Blackshire-Belay, Dean Jane Muhl, Dean Sue Keihn, Athletic Director Ken Bothof, Associate Provost Kathy Pletcher, and Library Director Leanne Hansen provided helpful contributions to that discussion. I very much appreciate their assistance. Chris Sampson and Scott Hildebrand of our communications office also offered helpful suggestions to improve organization and enhance clarity.
