researchers put on a show UW-Green Bay at its best? Look no further than the annual Academic Excellence Symposium. Student researchers and performers filled the atrium of Mary Ann Cofrin Hall on April 6. The juried exhibit is a chance for UW-Green Bay undergraduates to display their advanced-level projects for colleagues and community, which this year included UW Regents and other VIPs attending the Board’s meeting in Green Bay. Officials touring the Symposium commented on the impressive nature of the student work. Among the more than 50 displays were exhibits on biodiesel, African-American women in history, the fine arts, the psychology of body image and much more. We UW-Green Bay graduates are not part of 'brain drain'... About 75% of students come from Northeast Wisconsin, and 75% return to those communities after they graduate. We like it here. Most important, our children like it here — and we want them to enjoy the same quality of life, the same strong economy that we have enjoyed. Diane Ford, Class of '75, Controller and VP, WPS Resources, testifying to the UW System Regents about the regional economic importance of her alma mater |
