New in Appleton:
The NEW Learning Center

Leaders of four Northeastern Wisconsin universities and technical colleges cut the ribbon to celebrate the opening of the NEW Learning Center in Appleton last month. Holding the ceremonial scissors are, from left, Chancellor Bruce Shepard, Chancellor Richard Wells, Fox Valley Technical College President David Buettner and UW-Fox Valley Dean James Perry. Located on the grounds of FVTC, the center will host classes designed for working adults and delivered through UW-Oshkosh and the UW-Green Bay Adult Degree Program.

One sweet visit to the 'principal's office'
More than 1,200 area fifth-graders visited on October 9 for Phuture Phoenix Day. A highlight of campus tours, invariably, was the eighth floor of the Cofrin Library. The bird’s-eye view of the campus and lower bay was accompanied by a stop at the Chancellor’s Office. There, the children passed through in small groups, sampled from the treat basket and posed for photos beside the desk of the man they know as the “Big Principal,” UW-Green Bay’s Bruce Shepard.
We have many more cute photos of kids and their mentors at www.uwgb.edu/univcomm/news/photoarch/events/
