Northeastern Wisconsin's Growth Agenda University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Chancellor Bruce Shepard presented "Northeastern Wisconsin's Growth Agenda" to the UW System Board of Regents Business, Finance, and Audit Committee on Thursday, April 6. The board held its April 2006 meetings on the UW-Green Bay campus.

		Contrary to popular mythology, paper manufacturing remains strong – the large traditional manufacturers are making key capital investments to stay competitive on a worldwide stage. However, they remain strong because they must relentlessly substitute capital and brain-power driven innovation for labor. The major action is also now found in “high-tech paper” – paper converting, paper-based advanced consumer products, and non-wovens. UWGB is, already, a key player in these initiatives. Other changes include a growing health care industry, rapidly expanding services sector, growing impact of minority-owned businesses, and, less positively, loss of local ownership of national and international corporations.
