| Using the traditional way of counting, our
fall term tax-supported enrollment is 5,400. I should note, though: Add
in those who are not tax supported and who join during other terms of the
year and our annual unduplicated headcount is 7,300. Looking internally identifies strengths and weaknesses: • Among current challenges, our enrollment of students of color, while increasing every year, is way too small and our graduate program enrollments are also the smallest, proportionately, among the UW campuses. • On the positive side, our students come from our area, stay here when they graduate, and, the statistic of which I am most proud: 50% of our students come from families where neither mother nor father have graduated from college. Keep these assets in mind as we turn, in a minute, to the challenges our region faces. |
